Turano Residence

Upon the first time the Architect and Interior Designer met with the client, it was very clear, based on their taste, global travels, and adventurous lifestyle, that just another Tuscan house would not serve them well. Nor would it profile their exquisite taste in furnishings, art and accessories. The houses of Palm Beach, Florida quickly came to mind and were discussed early with the client. The Palm Beach style has been influenced from Florida's history as Spanish Colony. As a result, many style combinations ranging from Mediterranean, Spanish and Moorish, to French and Italian exist within the residence. Architect Addison Mizner, one of the founding fathers of Floridian Architecture, developed the idea of taking the typical Spanish courtyard home and invert its plan in order to create plenty of openings where each major rooms had natural light from both sides and in addition, developed loggias as rooms, which became known as 'Florida Rooms'. This is the basic premise of the home which took on this inverted courtyard design to allow for a great amount of natural light into the main body of the home's public and private areas.
